Dr. Leslie Armeniox

Welcome to OLA Counseling & Wellness

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, Wellness Coach, and educator. I help people achieve their health and wellness goals using both traditional psychotherapy approaches and innovations in applying the somatic experience and neuroscience. I use verbal and nonverbal methods in creative collaboration with clients of all ages.

I bring 45 years experience working intensively with people as part of their healing journey. My background is broad and multi-faceted. I bring special skills working with the body and movement for psychotherapy, wellness, and personal growth. Words alone do not heal. Only integration with the body brings true healing.

Leslie Armeniox, Ph.D., MCAT, LPC, LCMHC, BC-DMT, is a psychotherapist, educator, supervisor, coach, consultant, and Dance/Movement Therapist with experience in higher education, non-profit organizations, psychiatric inpatient and outpatient settings, military settings, and private practice. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling from UNC Greensboro and her MCAT with a specialty in movement from Drexel University. She has taught psychology, counseling and DMT alternate route courses for over 30 years, and has practiced as a mental health clinician for over 40 years. Dr. Armeniox has presented internationally and nationally at over 100 professional conferences. She also served as an instructor at the Behavioral Sciences Education & Training Division, U.S. Army Military Police School, where she developed and taught trainings for Family Advocacy Programs personnel and Military Police across all divisions. As a professional leader and advocate, she served the ADTA as GAC, Secretary, Professional Relations Liaison to Counseling, and on multiple task forces and committees.  Dr. Armeniox worked with several task forces to develop paths to licensure for DMTs. One of the highlights of her career was building the student counseling services program at the University of Hawaii in Hilo, where she immersed herself in Hawaiian culture, and worked to provide a diverse and inclusive staff of counselors. She is dedicated to social justice and to developing creative, collaborative, community-based approaches to address concerns.
